About Emond Publishing

In 1978, Professor Paul Emond published the very first Emond casebook. It was a casebook on Real Estate Law, and was soon followed by Administrative Law and Constitutional Law casebooks that were used in classes at the University of Toronto, Osgoode Hall Law School, and other Canadian common law programs. With his colleague Ann Montgomery, Professor Emond founded Emond Montgomery Publications, and the company quickly established itself as one of Canada’s leading legal publishers.

Today, Emond Publishing has expanded to serve the college, university, and professional market with resources that students and professionals can rely on from backpack to briefcase. In 2015, Emond published the first book in the Emond Professional Series, a new collection of practical handbooks for professionals embarking upon careers as lawyers, paralegals, and law clerks. Professor Emond has taken the company into ventures beyond educational publishing with the introduction of exam preparation resources and courses for students writing their Ontario Licensing Exams.

Our head office is located in Toronto, in the Summerhill neighbourhood. All of our printing and binding is done in Canada, by Canadian companies. Our resources have received praise from publications including The Globe and Mail, Queen’s Law Journal, and Paralegal Scope Magazine, and our list of awards has grown over the years, including the 2011 Donner Prize and the 2012 Donald Smiley Prize.

Our commitment to customer support and our passion for developing quality publications are the reasons for our success and at the heart of what we do every day. We are focused on anticipating the changing needs of Canadian students, instructors, and legal professionals, and we are ideally suited to offer the national presence and capabilities of a larger company, without sacrificing the individual attention on which we pride ourselves. We would like to thank the professors and instructors across Canada who have supported Emond Publishing and have assisted in solidifying us as one of Canada’s most successful and fastest-growing independent educational publishers.

We acknowledge the financial support of the Government of Canada and the financial support of the Government of Ontario through the Ontario Media Development Corporation for our publishing activities.
