Derek Grant holds a BA and M.Ed from the University of British Columbia. During a thirty-three year career with the Vancouver School Board, he acted in several leadership roles including Social Studies department head, district humanities consultant, and secondary school vice principal. He participated in numerous district, regional, and national curriculum development projects and social studies assessments. He also co-authored three nationally distributed textbooks on the Canadian legal system. Derek remains active as a writer, co-authoring textbooks on Black history, and American history, and writing a series of articles on current events for EMP’s Spotlight series. His current project is a textbook on comparative religion.
