Criminal Injuries Compensation Board

Due to provincial funding cuts, the Ontario Criminal Injuries Compensation Board closed its doors on September 30, 2019. An April 2019 announcement by the provincial government had put the public and stakeholders on notice for a pending closure, but details remained unknown. Shortly thereafter, amendments were made to the Compensation for Victims of Crime Act (CVCA). The CVCA empowered the Board.

The Victim Quick Response Program + is in place as of October 1, 2019 to provide compensation to victims of violent crimes via assessment by local service providers.

Local Planning Appeal Tribunal

Similar provincial budget cuts forced the closure of the Local Planning Appeal Support Centre (LPASC) in the first half of 2019. The LPASC was established alongside the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal, which replaced the Ontario Municipal Board in 2018. The Tribunal continues its operations.
