Mark C. Halfyard

Mark Halfyard is a criminal defence lawyer with the law firm of Rusonik, O’Connor, Robbins, Ross, Gorham & Angelini, one of Toronto’s largest criminal law firms. His practice is almost exclusively in the area of criminal appeals. Mark graduated from the University of Ottawa (LL.B., cum laude) in 2004 and was called to the bar in 2005. He appears regularly at the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Superior Court of Justice (summary conviction appeals). Mark has also argued several cases at the Supreme Court of Canada. Mark is an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where he teaches criminal law for the LL.M. program, and he has taught for the Criminology Department at The University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT). Mark is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association’s Intervention Committee, which directs interventions to the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He is also a member of the Ontario Court of Appeals’ Inmate appeal duty counsel program and a review counsel for Association in Defence of the Wrongfully Convicted (AIDWYC).
