Tara Williamson
Tara Williamson, BSW, JD, MA (Indigenous Governance), is a member of the Opaskwayak Cree Nation and was raised in Gaabishkigamaag (Swan Lake, Manitoba). Tara also has close family ties to Beardy’s & Okemasis in Saskatchewan and is an adopted member in the House of Dhadhiyasila of the Ha. zaqv Nation. She holds degrees in social work, law, and Indigenous governance and has been a professor and/or instructor at several post-secondary institutions across Canada. Tara is a Research Fellow with the Yellowhead Institute. She has been with the Indigenous Law Research Unit (ILRU) since 2019, first as a Senior Researcher, and then as Co-Research Director (alongside Jessica Asch) beginning in the fall of 2021.
