After positive reactions to our launch of Casebook+ Contracts and Casebook+ Torts last year, we took the leap and established Casebook+ portals for the full range of 1L subjects taught at most Canadian law schools.
As of this summer, the purchase of a new first-year Emond Publishing casebook comes with free access to the corresponding Casebook+ portal. Here’s the full list:
Casebook+ Contracts
Casebook+ Torts
Casebook+ Property Law
Casebook+ Criminal Law
Casebook+ Constitutional Law
Casebook+ Legal Ethics
Casebook+ Legal Research and Writing
What if my assigned book isn’t from Emond Publishing?
Did you know that Casebook+ is text agnostic? That means that our Casebook+ portals are built around a subject area, not a particular casebook. While you will find a downloadable Table of Contents for an Emond Publishing book in each portal, our legal experts have designed the rest of the content of the portal to be useful to students using ANY Canadian casebook or textbook in the relevant subject area – which means that if you’re assigned a non-Emond casebook or text, the resources in the portal will still be relevant to your course and useful in preparing for tests and exams. While you won’t be eligible for free access if you’re using a non-Emond book, you can still purchase access to any portal for $35. Same goes for purchasers of used law school books!
What kind of resources are included?
While each portal is slightly different, all include self-test quizzes, subject-specific flashcards and learning games, learning skills videos, a downloadable Table of Contents that can be used to build a course summary, our Bonus Marks blog featuring case comments and links to great third party resources, and our In Brief podcast featuring interviews with counsel from some of the cases you’re learning about in class.
Some Casebook+ portals also include our own Big Picture subject matter outlines, subject-specific videos, and exclusive access to chapters of other Emond publications. Two of our portals even include full-length books: Casebook+ Torts comes with access to our newly-published Emond’s Basics of Tort Law, and Casebook+ Criminal comes with the latest edition of our Guide to Martin’s Annual Criminal Code.
No matter how you like to learn – whether via video, audio, or by challenging yourself with quizzes and games – Casebook+ enriches your learning experience. Be sure to log in and have a look!
