These competencies outline what a newly licensed paralegal should understand and be able to do when entering the profession.

How are they different?

LSO course competencies are organized by the courses taught in accredited paralegal programs. P1 exam competencies are organized by broader areas of legal knowledge and professional practice.

Recognizing these competencies can help students connect their coursework to future licensing exam preparation.
