Darion Boyington
Darion Boyington served 14 years as a police officer occupying various roles such as coaching new recruits and developing community services programs. Darion left policing to teach at Mohawk College in their Police Foundations program and to complete her degree at Wilfrid Laurier University. Her passion for the study of Aboriginal Issues in Canada comes from her frontline experience with aboriginal people in the Criminal Justice system. Her research centers on understanding the past and present conditions of aboriginal people in Canada specifically their relationship with the Criminal Justice system. Her research goal is to create accurate quality curriculum to enable all students, specifically justice students, to fully comprehend the multi-faceted challenges that currently face aboriginal populations in Canada in their efforts to improve their position in Canada and to be prepared to partner with Aboriginal communities in these efforts, making a more equal society for everyone.
