Gus Van Harten
Gus Van Harten is a professor at Osgoode Hall Law School where he teaches administrative law and international economic law. Previously he was a faculty member in the Law Department of the London School of Economics. Before becoming an academic, he worked for two judicial inquiries in Canada—the Arar Inquiry of 2004-6 and the Walkerton Inquiry of 2000-2. Besides co-editing Administrative Law: Cases, Text, and Materials (Toronto: Emond, 2010, 2015, and 2022), his books include The Trouble with Foreign Investor Protection (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2020); Sold Down the Yangtze: Canada’s Lopsided Investment Deal with China (Toronto: Lorimer, 2015); Sovereign Choices and Sovereign Constraints (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2013); and Investment Treaty Arbitration and Public Law (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2007). His academic articles have been published in the Canadian Yearbook of International Law, European Journal of International Law, International Journal of Evidence and Proof, Osgoode Hall Law Journal, Queen’s Law Journal, Supreme Court Law Review, University of Toronto Law Journal, and other journals.
