Emond would like to congratulate our authors, Matthew Gourlay, partner at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP; Glen Crisp, Assistant Crown Attorney; Justice Brock Jones, Ontario Court of Justice; Jill D. Makepeace, partner at Greenspan Humphrey Makepeace LLP; and Justice Renee Pomerance, Ontario Court of Appeal.
A prestigious jury appointed by the Foundation recommended prize recipients from a list of 35 book nominees after more than four months of deliberation. All selections by the jury were unanimous. On behalf of the jury, Professor John N. Davis and David C. Day, K.C. barrister and Supreme Court master, remarked that Modern Criminal Evidence “substantially contributes to Canadian legal literature as the currently definitive concise work on its subject.”
The Criminal Law Series general editors, Brian H. Greenspan and Justice Vincenzo Rondinelli, responded by saying “We are honored and humbled by the recognition which the authors and publisher of Modern Criminal Evidence have received as recipients of the Walter Owen Book Prize. It is a privilege to be associated with this exceptional contribution to the practice of criminal law.”
We would like to thank The Canadian Foundation for Legal Research, our incredible authors and general editors, and the entire criminal law bar for making this book, along with the Criminal Law Series, such a remarkable success.
