Professor Paul Emond published the first Emond casebook in 1978. That text, and the ones that followed, were soon adopted into classes at the University of Toronto, Osgoode Hall Law School, and other Canadian common law programs.
Since then, Emond has established itself as one of Canada’s leading independent legal publishers. In 40 years of publishing, Emond has expanded to serve college, university, and professional markets. Three of our books have been recognized with the Walter Owen Book Prize, including Indigenous People and the Criminal Justice System in 2019, Search and Seizure in 2021, and Modern Criminal Evidence in 2023.
